POSTPONED

We’re celebrating our 16th Annual Crew of 2 around the Coronado’s on a:

New Tentative date of August 29 due to the “household” crew requirement currently in force.

We have continued to work things out with Mexico’s Board of Tourism, and we are once again racing around the Coronado Islands.

Last year’s Race had 20 entrants and racers fought their way through perfect air and smooth seas to finish in one of San Diego’s most demanding races.

It’s called the Crew of Two because the primary competition classes are limited to a skipper and a single crew member. If you want to race with unlimited crew, there are also a Multi Hull and an Open Classes if that’s your preference.

It’s a really fun event that draws competitors from all around the San Diego area and has developed quite a following with only San Diego’s very best registering to race.

There are several Classes to choose from if you would like to participate.

Class A Multihull Spinnaker and Non-Spinnaker All Ratings – Flag #1
Class B Non-Spinnaker PHRF 139 and below – Flag #2
Class C Non-Spinnaker PHRF 140 and above – Flag #3
Class D Spinnaker PHRF 119 and below – Flag #4
Class E Spinnaker PHRF 120 and above – Flag #5
Class F Open Class Spinnaker and Non-Spinnaker All Ratings Flag #6

Please NOTE: Should the current County and State restriction on Crew (Household members only) be effect at the time of the race, All classes will be required to race under these conditions. This will include Class F Open Class Monohull.

Check out the NOR, SI’s, and Entry Forms below when they are posted closer to race time. The race begins at 11:00 am starting between the Race Committee boat and pin end of the line in the vicinity of Buoy 9 near the entrance to San Diego Bay.

Once they start, racers will head out toward Coronado Del Norte (the North Coronado Island). Racers will round the North Island to port and proceed back to the finish line at Buoy 9 in the channel. Racers are on the Honor system and will record their own time after the Helmsman passes within one boat length of Buoy 9 to Starboard.

Race distance is approximately 32.0 miles.

Unfortunately, with the Corona-virus pandemic still with  us we have certain guidelines we need to follow. Therefore there will not be an after party as in past years.  We are working on a possible alternative venue (possible virtual) but not ready to announce at this time. keep tuned in.
